Monsoon Fury in Rajasthan: Two-Storey House Collapses, IMD Issues Fresh Weather Alert
The monsoon is expected to remain active in most parts of eastern Rajasthan for the next week. The India Meteorological Department has issued a new alert.
Deeg: The southwest monsoon activity continues to bring rainfall to Rajasthan, with heavy to very heavy rainfall recorded at several locations over the past 24 hours. An upper circulation system remains over the southwestern parts of Uttar Pradesh and surrounding areas on Friday. The monsoon trough is passing through Firozpur, Rohtak, and Kanpur today.
What did the IMD say?
As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), there exists a high probability of enhanced rain activity and isolated heavy rain in Bharatpur, Jaipur, Kota, Ajmer, and Udaipur divisions of eastern Rajasthan from August 7 to 10. There exists a high probability of isolated extremely heavy rain in Kota and Udaipur divisions from August 7 to 9. Moreover, from August 8 to 10, there exists a high probability of enhanced rain activity and isolated moderate to heavy rain in parts of Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions of western Rajasthan.
Did a two-storey house collapsed in Deeg?
Rainfall activity is expected to decrease in most parts of the state from August 15t. According to the India Meteorological Department, moderate to heavy rainfall is expected today in Bharatpur, Jaipur, and Kota divisions. In the eastern region, moderate to heavy rainfall occurred at some locations, and heavy to very heavy rainfall at others. A major tragedy was averted in Ghilavati village in the Kaman area of Deeg. Due to the continuous torrential rain, a two-story house suddenly collapsed. As soon as the house collapsed, there was screaming and shouting at the scene.
The "Mandir Wali Gali" in Brajnagar, Deeg, has now become a complete river. The situation is so dire that dirty water has entered people's homes and rooms. Locals allege that the municipality neither conducted any pre-monsoon cleaning campaigns nor installed any pumps or other devices to drain the water. To date, no concrete drains have been constructed to ensure proper drainage, causing the entire area to become flooded every year during the rainy season.
