IMD Forecasts More Rain for Rajasthan After Overnight Showers Bring Relief from Heat

Jaipur: In Rajasthan's Bharatpur, it has been raining since late last night. The continuous rain has brought pleasant weather and brought relief from the heat. The India Meteorological Department said that intermittent rain is expected for the next 24 hours due to the active monsoon.

What did the IMD say?

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted light to moderate rains in several regions, strong wind and thunder in some regions for the next five days.

The India Meteorological Department has reported that "heavy to very heavy rainfall" has been received at the scattered areas in eastern parts of the state in the past 24 hours. At a few centres in the west, there was light to moderate rainfall as well. Chhipa Barod and Baran got the highest precipitations, 14cm.

What about Sri Ganganagar?

Sriganganagar experienced a brief spell of rain on Tuesday, bringing significant relief from the intense heat and humidity. But mists and rain continued to cause water logged condition on many city roads and streets and made travel difficult.The sky remains overcast, and rain is still falling in some areas. Waterlogging in many locations has caused difficulties for drivers and pedestrians, while waterlogging in low-lying areas has also caused inconvenience to local residents. 

Did BLD canal broke due to heavy rainfall

There is a significant erosion in BLD canal in the Dantor area of Bikaner due to heavy rains.  A 30-foot erosion on RD-78 near Building 13 caused the canal water to spill into the surrounding area.  The erosion is reported to be caused by an overflowing of the canal because of heavy rains. Farmers informed the Irrigation Department upon learning of the incident. The assistant engineer and junior engineer of Irrigation Department have already left for the scene, said Anil Kaithal, XEN of the Irrigation Department. Repair work will commence soon on the water drainage to ensure farmers are not facing any problem.
