IMD Issues Heavy Rain Alert for Jaipur, 25 Rajasthan Districts Brace for Downpour
Rainfall activity is set to increase rapidly in Rajasthan due to a monsoon trough and depression system. Starting July 28, moderate to heavy rainfall is expected in the Jaipur, Bharatpur, and Kota divisions of the state.
Jaipur: The monsoon is set to re-activate in full force in Rajasthan. According to the Meteorological Center, Jaipur, a new round of rain is about to begin in the state due to a deep depression formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal and the adjacent West Bengal-North Odisha coast.
What did weather department say?
The monsoon trough is currently passing through Bikaner, Datia, and Daltonganj, while a circulation system remains over southwestern Rajasthan. The combined effects of these weather systems will lead to heavy rains in most districts of the state on July 28.
On Monday, moderate to heavy rain accompanied by thundershowers was recorded in parts of Bikaner and Jodhpur divisions. In addition, light to moderate rain occurred at isolated places in the rest of western Rajasthan.
Monsoon activity will intensify after July 28. The scope of rainfall will increase in Jaipur, Bharatpur and Kota divisions and moderate to heavy rain may be recorded at many places.
Did IMD issue warning?
According to the immediate warning issued by the Meteorological Center Jaipur, a yellow alert has been issued in Alwar, Jaipur, Dausa, Karauli, Sawai Madhopur, Dholpur, Bharatpur, Bhilwara, Tonk, Sirohi, Udaipur, Salumbhar, Rajsamand, Jalore, Baran and Jhalawar districts. In these areas, strong winds at a speed of 30 to 40 km/h and light to moderate rain with thundershowers are expected.
The intensity of rainfall will increase further from July 29. Several other parts of Kota, Bharatpur, Jaipur, Ajmer, Udaipur, and Bikaner divisions will experience the effects of rain. During this period, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely in some districts of southeastern and eastern Rajasthan.
According to the Meteorological Department, this monsoon intensity will continue from July 30 to August 2. Widespread rainfall activity will continue in both eastern and western Rajasthan. Heavy to very heavy rainfall warnings have been issued for many areas during this period. The Meteorological Department has advised the public and farmers to avoid shelter under trees or makeshift structures during thunderstorms or heavy rain, and to stay away from waterlogged areas.
