Heavy Rain Wreaks Havoc in Rajasthan, Record Showers Hit Banswara and Udaipur; 26 Districts on Alert

Jaipur: The rainy season will continue in Rajasthan on Sunday. A rain alert has been issued in 26 districts by the India Meteorological Department. Jalore, Pali and Sirohi districts are receiving intense rainfall. Heavy rainfall was observed in many areas on Saturday. Kushalgarh in Banswara had received a maximum of 60mm whereas Salumbhar near Udaipur received 57mm during the past 24 hours. 

What about other districts?

Light rainfall continues in Bikaner, Jaipur and Bharatpur on Sunday. There could be less intensity of rainfall in south and south-western Rajasthan. Clear weather is forecast in several places of Kota, Ajmer, Udaipur and Jodhpur divisions. There will be a decrease in rainfall because of a change in the monsoon trough.

The monsoon trough is forecast to move towards North India from August 3, thereby lessening the rainfall activity in the state and bringing clear weather in most parts of the state, according to the India Meteorological Department. There is, however, a possibility of light to moderate rains in parts of Bikaner division, Shekhawati region, Jaipur and Bharatpur divisions during August 3 to 5.

What about the temperature?

Meanwhile, the temperature was also impacted by the rain that occurred in western Rajasthan on Sunday. There was a dip of approximately 3 degrees in the temperature at Jaisalmer and Barmer. The hottest was at Phalodi, with a maximum temperature of 39.2 degrees. All other cities in the state had maximum temperatures below 40 degrees, however. But the cooling temperatures along with cloud cover did certainly help to make people feel less humid.
