Sourav Ganguly, Wife Dona Receive Death Threats; Police Launch Investigation
Former BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has filed a complaint with the police alleging that he received several threatening letters in the past few months.
New Delhi: Former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly has filed a complaint with the police as he has received a number of threatening letters in the last few months, including one that allegedly threatened to kill him and his wife Dona Ganguly, reports said.

The president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), Ganguly, has filed a written complaint at the Thakurpukur Police Station in south Kolkata, a senior police officer said.

What is there in the letter?
The police complaint by Ganguly's manager states that the letters were being sent to him for about six months. There was little "value" placed on them at first.
But two letters arrived at his office on Monday with explicit threats to kill Ganguly and his wife and others close to him.
The police have now started an investigation to identify the sender and find out the motive behind the threats.
What did the police say?
The complaint is being taken seriously and an investigation started. The officer said they are looking into the letters, where they came from and the courier's trail.
The courier agency has also been contacted to provide information regarding the consignment and police are also investigating the movement of the SIM card allegedly used by the sender.
The officer said they had contacted the people from the courier and traced one of the mobile numbers and are attempting to locate that one.
What is the motive?
Now, Kolkata Police are trying to ascertain whether all the letters are of the same person. Investigators also are working on the motive for the alleged threats.
The police are probing the contents of the letters, their source and the courier trail.
