New Delhi: The Indian cricket team is going to play a Test series in Sri Lanka for the time since 2017. The team is led by Shubman Gill and is all set to show the strength against Sri Lanka. Many things are different in the Indian team now, after these nine years.

What has changed in 9 years?

Virat Kohli was the captain when India played its tour match with Sri Lanka in 2017. Not only Virat Kohli, but Rohit Sharma also played an important part in Test matches during that time.

The team from 2017 had players who are not, in the team anymore. Nine years ago Rishab Pant had not yet played his Test match. Now the time has changed so much that many veteran players have either retired or left the Test format.

What about the new team?

This time, the Indian team on Sri Lanka tour features mostly new faces, playing a Test match here for the first time. Even new captain Shubman Gill is playing a Test match in Sri Lanka for the first time. But everyone knows how important a dash of experience is when a team is brimming with youthful enthusiasm. From that historic series in 2017 to this new team in 2026, only three players have managed to secure a place in this team.

How is KL Rahul's journey?

KL Rahul in the year 2017 was just starting up his career and was finding his footing on the team. But by 2026, KL Rahul is considered as the dependable and experienced player in the batting lineup of India. KL Rahul's batting skills and calmness will be a threat for the bowlers of Sri Lanka while playing on home grounds.

What about Ravindra Jadeja?

Jadeja is probably the all rounder in the world today. He has gotten a lot better with the bat and the ball since he was last in Sri Lanka in 2017. Jadeja may be near the end of his career. Jadeja is still very deadly in three areas: batting and bowling and fielding.

How will Kuldeep Yadav perform?

After Ravichandran Ashwin retired, Kuldeep Yadav became the spinner for India in test matches. Kuldeep Yadav was pretty new to the team back in 2017. Now he is a skilled bowler and his spin is going to be tough for the Sri Lankan batsmen. The spin of Kuldeep Yadav will be very hard for them to handle. He has become an important player, for India.
