Team India Player Out of Asia Cup, West Indies Tests-Know Why

Rishabh Pant will miss the Asia Cup 2025 and the West Indies Test series due to a leg injury from the England Test, forcing Team India to depend on alternative wicketkeeping options.

Sports News: The Indian cricket team's star wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has been ruled out of the upcoming Asia Cup 2025, and along with this, he will also not be a part of the home Test series against the West Indies. He had to take this decision due to the injury he suffered in the fourth Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy played recently against England.

Challenges for the Indian team

This time the 17th edition of the Asia Cup will be played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from 9 September to 28 September 2025. Just a few days after this, India has to play a two-match home Test series against the West Indies, which will be played between 2 and 14 October. Pant's absence will require the team management to make a new strategy.

Injury at Old Trafford became the reason.

Talking about the injury, Pant suffered this setback during the fourth Test played in Manchester, when Chris Woakes' yorker hit his right toe. Pant was batting at that time, and the injury was so serious that he was immediately taken off the field. The scan confirmed a fracture in the toe, and the doctors suggested at least six weeks of rest.

Continued playing despite the struggle

However, despite leaving the field, Pant showed his courage and returned to the field to bat the next day. Despite the injury, he limped and batted and scored a fighting half-century to help India draw the match. His fighting innings was highly appreciated in the cricket world.

Ruled out of the fifth test

Due to the injury, Pant could not play in the final, i.e., fifth, Test match, which was held at The Oval. In this match, India defeated England by six runs in a thrilling manner and ended the five-match Test series 2-2. According to reports, Pant's condition is now stable, and he does not require surgery.

India's Asia Cup campaign

The Indian team will start its Asia Cup campaign against UAE on September 10. All the matches of the team are likely to be played in Dubai. India has been placed in Group A along with Pakistan, UAE, and Oman. At the same time, Group B includes teams from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong. This tournament will be played in T20 format so that preparation can be done for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
