Jasprit Bumrah's Test career will end! A big update came after not playing against England at the Oval

In the Test series against England, veteran fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah was not seen playing in all five matches. In such a situation, BCCI is not happy with his workload management.

Sports News: India's star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has decided not to play in the fifth and final Test match against England at the Oval. After this decision, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has started reviewing his availability and workload management policy. Bumrah took 14 wickets in this series, which is equal to Mohammed Siraj, but Siraj played all five tests.

Even before the England tour, the Indian team management had decided that Jasprit Bumrah would play only three Test matches. However, it was not clear which three matches those would be. Bumrah took part in the first, third, and fourth tests played at Headingley, Lord's, and Old Trafford. His absence in the fifth Test has forced the BCCI to reconsider his availability policy.

Bumrah’s Workload Management Questioned

Bumrah's absence has made planning for the Indian bowling attack difficult. The BCCI believes that the medical team should give a full report on Bumrah's fitness and workload before selection. According to a report in the Times of India, the BCCI is unhappy that Bumrah is choosing matches on his own. If he is not available for the entire series in the future, then he may be considered for not being included in the Test team.

What is the basis of workload management?

India's batting coach Sitanshu Kotak said about workload management that it depends on the number of overs bowled by the bowler every week. He said that if a bowler is preparing for T20, then he can get a sufficient workload by bowling six overs in five days.

For Test cricket, a bowler should bowl 30 overs every week. If 35 overs have to be bowled suddenly in a match, then it is considered an increase in workload. Apart from this, the bowler's fatigue and his own opinion are also important in this decision.
