Dhoni Breaks Silence: CSK Bond to Last 20 Years, On or Off the Field

MS Dhoni has finally addressed his future with Chennai Super Kings, saying he’ll stay connected for 15–20 years—whether as a player or not. His statement ends all speculations.

Sports News: Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain and Indian cricket legend MS Dhoni has finally broken his silence over his future with the IPL franchise. In a private event, he opened up about how his relationship with CSK will not be limited to the cricket field but will continue in the years to come.

Dhoni said that I and CSK are together. Even for the next 15-20 years. I hope people don't think that I am going to play for 20 more years! He said this with a smile, which clearly shows that his association with CSK will continue not just as a player but as an integral part of the franchise.

Speculations about retirement put to rest again

There has been speculation for the past few months that 44-year-old MS Dhoni might retire from cricket after IPL 2024. However, he made a successful recovery from his knee injury and once again took over the captaincy in the middle of IPL 2025. The decision was taken when regular captain Ruturaj Gaikwad was injured.

Difficult season, but Dhoni became a support

CSK's IPL 2025 campaign was relatively challenging. The team won only 4 out of 14 matches and finished at the bottom of the points table. Despite this, Dhoni played the role of an experienced leader and guided the team in difficult times. His presence served as an inspiration for the young players.

Determined to stay in the yellow jersey

Dhoni also made it clear that whether he plays on the field or not, his relationship with CSK will remain. He jokingly said that I will always be in the yellow jersey. It is not necessary that I am playing, but the association will remain.

Questions have been avoided before

Last week, when Dhoni was asked about his future at another event, he smiled and avoided answering. But this time he not only commented on CSK's disappointing season but also made it clear that he will remain associated with the franchise in some form or other in the future.
