New Delhi: Before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has issued new guidelines for players and support staff. Many important changes have been made in these rules from practice to travel and dressing room access. The objective of the board is said to be to maintain discipline during the tournament, protect the quality of the pitch and create an equal environment for all the teams.

Why was practice banned on match day?

According to the new guidelines, now no team will be able to practice on the match day. BCCI believes that excessive activity on the pitch before the match affects its quality. In such a situation, this decision has been taken so that all the teams can get an equal and balanced pitch.

What is the purpose of limiting practice sessions?

The board has also limited the number and timing of practice sessions. Now teams will have to practice at fixed times and at fixed nets only. This will reduce the pressure on the field and the condition of the pitch will remain better.

Will teams be able to use each other's pitches or nets?

Under the new system, one team will not be able to practice on the net or pitch used by another team. Its purpose is to ensure that no team gets additional information or advantage of the pitch and that the competition remains completely fair.

Why was practice stopped on the main pitch?

In the guidelines, any kind of practice or warm-up match has been banned on the main pitch i.e. the match pitch. There is already a lot of pressure on the pitch after domestic cricket, hence this step has been taken to keep it in better condition.

How have the rules related to travel and dressing rooms changed?

Now it has been made mandatory for all players to travel by team bus. There will be a ban on the use of private vehicles. Apart from this, only authorized players and staff will be allowed to enter the dressing room so that both security and discipline can be ensured.

Will these rules increase pressure on players?

Experts believe that these rules will help in balancing the workload of the players. Having fewer practice sessions will provide adequate rest to the players, which can also reduce the risk of injury.

Will there be a big change in IPL 2026?

With these new rules of BCCI, a big change can be seen in the operation of IPL. Emphasizing discipline, fairness and better pitch conditions, the board has clearly indicated that the rules will be strictly followed in the coming season.
