New Delhi: Artificial intelligence is no longer confined to mobile apps or chatbots. A new AI-powered pendant has now entered the market that can interact with users, remember past conversations, and remind them of important details when needed. US startup Friend has introduced the latest version of its AI pendant, featuring a built-in speaker for the first time. While earlier versions responded only through text, the upgraded device can now communicate directly through voice.

What changed in the new AI pendant?

The biggest change in the new model is the built-in speaker. Now the user will not need to read every answer on the phone screen. AI will respond by speaking directly. The company has also included new AI models and voice systems with different personalities. The special thing is that every device comes with a different voice and personality, which the user cannot change as per his choice.

How does it remember what you say?

This AI pendant is designed to continuously listen and process conversations happening around it. The company claims that it can remember important conversations, meetings, and everyday discussions. If the user takes a monthly subscription, the device can store conversation memory for more than 30 days. If needed, the user can ask AI for information related to old conversations.

How much is the price and what will you get?

The new AI pendant has been priced at US$249, which is almost double the price of its first version. Apart from this, the company has also started an optional subscription of $10 per month. Through this plan, the device will preserve the memory of conversations for a long period of time and will also provide additional AI features.

Why are questions being raised regarding privacy?

This device has become a subject of debate since its launch due to its ability to listen all the time. Technical experts say that devices that record audio continuously can raise concerns about privacy and data security. For this reason, the first edition also had to face criticism. The company says that necessary measures have been taken to protect user data, but the debate regarding such AI wearables is still ongoing.

Are AI wearables the next big step in technology?

The number of AI pendants, smart pins and other wearable devices has increased rapidly in the last two years. Their purpose is not just to take notes or record meetings, but also to play the role of a digital companion. Friend's new pendant is considered to be another step in this direction. However, experts believe that the success of such devices will depend not only on the technology but also on how comfortable people feel in sharing their personal conversations with AI.
