NCMC Service Begins in Noida: One Card for Metro Travel, WhatsApp QR Ticket Facility Added
Noida is starting the NCMC card facility for metro passengers from August 15. With WhatsApp QR tickets and new passenger information system, travel will become easier and digital.
Noida: Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) is preparing to launch several digital facilities for passengers on the occasion of Independence Day. The facility of using the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) is starting in Noida Metro from 15th August. This will enable passengers who have a valid NCMC card to use it on Noida Metro and other metro and public transport networks where NCMC is accepted. This is especially expected to benefit the passengers travelling daily in Delhi-NCR.
What will change in the Noida Metro with NCMC card?
NCMC aims to reduce the need to have separate transport cards for different cities. From August 15, valid NCMC cards can be used in Noida Metro. Commuters who already use this card in Delhi or any other NCMC-enabled transport network will not need to have a separate card for Noida Metro. This facility is being implemented in NMRC's network of 21 stations.
Will Delhi Metro's NCMC card also work?
The biggest benefit of this facility will be available to the passengers travelling between Delhi and Noida. As per available information, a valid NCMC card can be used in all transport networks where the card is accepted. That is, under the NCMC-based interoperable ticketing system, passengers will have less trouble getting separate cards again and again.
Where to get NCMC card in Noida Metro?
NMRC is preparing to provide NCMC cards and recharge facilities to passengers at its stations. This will also make it easier for passengers taking the card for the first time. However, the card price and recharge process may vary as per the rules of different card issuing banks or service providers.
How to get Metro QR ticket through WhatsApp?
Digital ticketing is also being made easier for passengers. The facility of purchasing QR tickets through WhatsApp will reduce the need for passengers to stand in queues at the ticket counter. After getting the ticket, the QR code available on the mobile can be used at the entry and exit gates of the station. The facility to book QR tickets through mobile app is also available on the official website of NMRC.
How to get train information at stations?
To increase passenger convenience, arrangements for Passenger Information Display System (PIDS) are also being made. The objective is to provide important information related to the train to the passengers through the display system. With this, passengers standing at the station will be able to easily get information related to train status and journey.
Why use new technology in metro operations?
NMRC is also emphasising making its operations and maintenance technology-based. Training and testing facilities are being developed to test signalling and communication systems in the metro network. Its purpose is to identify potential technical faults and reduce operational risks before equipment is deployed in the field.
City bus passengers will also benefit from NCMC?
NCMC is not limited to just metro. It can also be used on city bus services where the card is accepted. This is the reason why it is being considered an important step towards an integrated public transport system. However, acceptance of the card on a particular bus service will depend on that service joining the NCMC network.
Will there be benefit in rent also on 15th August?
As per the official fare table of NMRC, Independence Day falls under the category of national holiday and lower fares are applicable on this day as compared to normal days. For example, for a journey of 17 or more stations the fare on national holidays is ₹40, while on normal days it is Rs 50. There is also a provision of 10 percent discount on travel through a smart card.
Why is this change important for passengers?
The simultaneous expansion of features like NCMC, QR ticketing and passenger information system will boost digital travel in Noida Metro. Especially for daily commuters in Delhi-NCR, it may be more convenient to use different NCMC-enabled transport services on a single card. NMRC is already providing facilities like QR tickets, journey planning and real-time travel information through mobile app.
