On Saturday, policemen patrolling in Janta Vihar area of ​​Mukundpur had caught a bike without valid documents. According to the police, after the bike was taken to the police station as per the rules, its owner and some family members reached the spot and started protesting against the action. Within no time the dispute escalated and the accused poured chilli powder in the eyes of the policemen and attacked them with sticks and bricks. The video of the incident has also surfaced.

Why did controversy erupt after the bike was seized?

According to the police, Head Constable Dinesh and Head Constable Rajesh, posted in the beat staff of Bhalswa Dairy Police Station, were patrolling in Janta Vihar area at around 3 pm on Saturday afternoon. During this time, he saw a bike coming, whose driver did not have the necessary documents. The police stopped the bike and took action to confiscate it under Section 66 of the DP Act and brought the bike to the police station.

How were the policemen attacked?

Police say that after about half an hour the bike owner returned with his family and some other people. He started arguing with the policemen regarding the confiscation of the bike. As the dispute escalated, the mob allegedly poured chilli powder in the eyes of both the policemen. After this they were attacked with sticks and bricks. Head constable Tinu, who arrived to help the two policemen, was also targeted by the accused. All three soldiers were injured in this attack.

Did the policeman suffer a head injury?

Head constable Dinesh sustained head injuries in the attack. He was given immediate medical aid. According to the police, his condition is currently stable. Two other policemen also sustained injuries during the attack. Someone present during the incident recorded the video of the entire fight on his mobile phone, which is now in the news on social media.

Was the minor caught by chance?

After the attack, the police, with the help of local people, caught a 17-year-old minor from the spot. However, other accused involved in the incident fled from there. The police is busy searching for them. According to the police, an FIR has been registered in this case at Bhalswa Dairy police station under various sections of the Indian Justice Code.

Are cases already registered against the main accused?

Police said that a person named Sunil alias Pankaj is said to be the main absconding accused in the case. According to the police, he is a declared criminal of the area and already has five criminal cases registered against him. These include cases of serious crimes including those related to NDPS. The police are now searching for him as well as investigating the role of other people involved in the attack.

Delhi Police has said that strict action will be taken against those who assault policemen on duty and obstruct government work. Police are trying to identify the accused on the basis of video footage and other available evidence. After the incident, police presence has been increased in the area.
