Armed with rods, the MNS activists vandalized the facility, shattering glass panes and damaging infrastructure. The violent act, captured on video and widely shared, has drawn sharp criticism for its lawlessness, marking another episode in the MNS’s history of aggressive protests that disrupt public order in the state.

MNS Workers vandalize Toll Booth

MNS district president Raju Patil openly supported the vandalism, claiming the toll plaza was prematurely operational despite incomplete road work and lack of basic facilities. Patil argued that commuters were being unfairly charged tolls on an underprepared stretch, justifying the workers’ actions as a stand against mismanagement. However, this defense has fueled public anger, with critics accusing the MNS of resorting to hooliganism instead of pursuing legal or constructive means to address grievances.

Toll Booth Vandalised in Washim

The Washim incident is the latest in a series of provocative acts by MNS workers, often tied to regional pride and anti-establishment sentiments. Such actions, particularly ahead of key elections, are seen as attempts to rally support among disaffected locals. However, the destruction of public property has sparked concerns about safety and governance, with opposition leaders condemning the MNS for promoting a culture of violence. The toll booth attack has further strained relations between the MNS and state authorities.

MNS Chief defends Vandalism

The vandalism has prompted calls for stricter action against those involved, with police registering a case against the perpetrators. Local residents and commuters, affected by the disruption, demand accountability and better oversight of toll operations. The incident underscores the need for dialogue to address infrastructure issues without resorting to violence. As Maharashtra grapples with this unrest, the MNS’s tactics risk alienating voters while highlighting deeper systemic challenges in the state’s development.
