Patna: Senior Bihar leader Tej Pratap Yadav has filed a complaint of major theft from his official residence. According to the complaint given in the Secretariat police station, on June 22, when the cupboard of the room was checked, about Rs 20 lakh in cash and many valuable items were found missing. Tej Pratap has accused his personal assistant Motilal Rai of theft. The complaint also mentions two eyewitnesses who saw the PA leaving with the bag on the night of the incident. Police have registered FIR and started investigation. The allegations have not been officially confirmed yet.

What items went missing from the cupboard?

According to the complaint, apart from Rs 20 lakh in cash, two-tola gold chain and a gold ring were missing from the cupboard. Also, 4 drones, 2 hard discs, an iPad, a MacBook, a Lenovo laptop and 4 iPhone 17 Pro Max phones were also not found. Tej Pratap says that the cash belonged to the party fund. Police are now examining the purchase bills and serial numbers of the goods to help in recovery.

What is the reason for the allegations against PA Motilal Rai?

Tej Pratap has directly made his personal assistant Motilal Rai an accused. It is written in the complaint that at around 11:30 pm on the night of the incident, two witnesses had seen Motilal Rai crossing the boundary of the housing complex and going out with the bag. Both of them have been made witnesses. Police are recording the statements of witnesses and will also check the call details and location of the PA.

What are the police doing till now?

Secretariat police station immediately registered a case after receiving the complaint. Officials say that the allegations made in the application are under investigation. CCTV footage installed inside and outside the residence is being watched. There will also be traffic registration and interrogation of staff. No arrests have been made yet. Police say that further legal action will be decided on the basis of evidence.

What demand did Tej Pratap put forward in the FIR?

In the FIR, Tej Pratap has made three demands from the police - there should be a speedy investigation into the case, the accused should be arrested, and the stolen cash and goods should be recovered. The matter is being considered sensitive due to the mention of party funds. The police focus is on technical evidence and statements of witnesses. Charges will be framed only after the investigation is completed.

What will be the future course of the investigation?

At present the matter is at the investigation stage. If CCTV and statements of witnesses show the presence of PA and carrying of goods, then the police will take remand and recovery action. If the allegations are not proved then the outcome of the case may change. Secretariat police station has said that there will be a fair investigation and action will be taken on the basis of facts. Now everyone's eyes are on the investigation report.
