Punjab is drowning in the pain of floods, Modi's 1600 crore package became salt on the wounds of Punjabis

Punjab is suffering from floods, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi surprised everyone by giving a package of only 1600 crores. During this, his comment "Do you not know Hindi?" further hurt the sentiments of Punjabis.

Punjab News: Punjab is currently facing a terrible flood. Lakhs of people have become homeless and farmers have completely lost their crops. Industry and business have also come to a standstill. In such a difficult time, Punjabis were hoping that the Prime Minister would give a big relief package and understand their problems. During his visit to Gurdaspur, Prime Minister Modi announced a relief of only 1600 crores. This amount is like a drop in the ocean in front of such a huge loss. The people of Punjab expressed their displeasure by calling this relief inadequate and called it step-motherly treatment with Punjab.

Anger over Hindi comment

When Disaster Management Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian said that the aid is less, Modi ji jokingly asked, “Don't you know Hindi?” To this the minister replied, “I know Hindi, but there is less money.” Punjabis considered this comment not only as an insult but also an insult to the mother tongue.

Direct attack by the opposition

AAP leader Aman Arora said that Modi ji has made fun of Punjab. Giving only Rs 1600 crore for a loss of more than Rs 20,000 crore is like rubbing salt on people's wounds. He accused the Center of withholding Rs 60,000 crore of Punjab, which should be released immediately.

Strong reaction from ministers

Water Resources Minister Barinder Goyal called the relief package a big joke. Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said that after 30 days the Prime Minister came to Punjab and left after giving Rs 1600 crore. This is not relief but an attempt to deceive the public.

There is resentment in BJP too

BJP leader Ravneet Bittu also admitted that the Prime Minister's comment insulted the Punjabi language. Even though he later clarified, people's anger did not subside. The general public is considering this a direct attack on their honour and the anger is continuously increasing.

Punjab government's promise

The AAP government said that even if the Centre ignores, the Punjab government stands with every flood victim. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann promised that farmers will be supported, help will reach every family and the honour of Punjabis will be protected.
