Punjab CM Mann Launches ‘Mission Chardi Kala’ To Rebuild Flood-Hit Punjab With Global Support

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has launched “Mission Chardi Kala,” a global fundraising campaign, appealing to Punjabis worldwide to help rebuild Punjab after the devastating 2025 floods destroyed lives and infrastructure.

Punjab News: Punjab recently faced its worst flood disaster in history. Over 2,300 villages were submerged, leaving more than two million people affected. Nearly five lakh acres of crops were washed away. Around 56 lives were lost and seven lakh people were rendered homeless. The scale of this disaster is unmatched, making it one of the darkest times Punjab has seen. Families lost homes, farmers lost fields, and children were left without schools.

Massive Losses Across Key Sectors

The Chief Minister revealed that 3,200 government schools and 19 colleges were destroyed. More than 1,400 hospitals and clinics were damaged beyond repair. Around 8,500 kilometers of roads were washed away, and 2,500 bridges collapsed. The estimated loss stands at ₹13,800 crore, but the actual figure could be higher. Bhagwant Mann said Punjab has faced many crises in history but has never bowed down, always standing tall in strength.

Stories Of Courage And Unity

Mann praised the bravery shown during the floods. Youth risked their lives to rescue others, while gurdwaras and temples opened their doors to feed distressed families. Entire villages stood together like one family. He called this unity Punjab’s greatest strength. The Chief Minister emphasized that now it is time to move from relief to rehabilitation, so farmers can plant again, children can study, and families can rebuild their lives.

Launch Of Mission Chardi Kala

To meet these needs, the Punjab government has launched “Mission Chardi Kala.” Mann explained that the phrase means keeping hope alive even in pain and strength even in sorrow. He appealed to every Punjabi, Indians across the nation, industrialists, charitable trusts, and global communities to contribute generously. He assured that every rupee donated will be spent with honesty and transparency to rebuild Punjab.

Call For Global Contributions

Mann urged Punjabis living abroad to extend a helping hand. He said contributions can be made through the official website rangla.punjab.gov.in. A special war room has been set up in his office to monitor all activities under Mission Chardi Kala. The Chief Minister promised to personally review progress daily, ensuring every penny is used directly for rehabilitation and rebuilding flood-affected areas.

Directives To Officials For Relief

Alongside the fundraising appeal, Mann held a video conference with all Deputy Commissioners. He instructed them to visit relief camps and flood-hit areas daily to ensure no citizen faces inconvenience. He stressed that every rupee collected will be used to restore homes, schools, hospitals, and roads. Finance Minister Harpal Cheema and Chief Secretary KAP Sinha also attended the launch event, backing the mission.

Punjab’s Spirit Will Prevail

The Chief Minister concluded by saying that Punjab has always been a land of Gurus, saints, and brave people. Even in tough times, Punjab never gives up. With the global Punjabi community’s support, Punjab will rise again. Mann expressed confidence that Mission Chardi Kala will not only restore what was lost but also strengthen Punjab’s identity as a land of resilience, courage, and unity.
