New Delhi: For the first time, the names of 6 soldiers who sacrificed their lives while protecting the country in Operation Sindoor have come before the country. The government has saluted the courage of all these heroes. Rifleman Sunil Kumar has been posthumously awarded Vir Chakra, while Air Force Sergeant Surendra Kumar has been awarded Vayu Medal. Now the names of these martyrs have also been registered in the list of National War Memorial.
Who are those six soldiers?
In this operation, Subedar Major Pawan Kumar, Rifleman Sunil Kumar, Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar, Agniveer Mool Murali Nayak, Havildar Sunil Kumar Singh and Sergeant Surendra Kumar made the greatest sacrifice for the country. These soldiers on duty laid down their chests before the enemy and fought till their last breath and attained martyrdom.
Who got which honour?
President Draupadi Murmu posthumously awarded Vir Chakra to Rifleman Sunil Kumar. This honor is given for the tremendous courage shown on the battlefield. Sergeant Surendra Kumar of the Indian Air Force was awarded the *Vayu Medal*. This is the reward for his enthusiasm, leadership and service to the country.
Where were the martyred soldiers posted?
Subedar Major Pawan Kumar was in Headquarters 10 Infantry Brigade. Rifleman Sunil Kumar was part of 4 Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry. Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar was posted in 5 Field Regiment, Agniveer Mool Murli Naik in 851 Light Regiment and Havildar Sunil Kumar Singh in 237 Field Workshop. Sergeant Surendra Kumar was serving the country in the 39 wing of the Air Force.
How will these heroes be remembered in the National War Memorial?
The names of all the martyrs and their units are now recorded on the website of the National War Memorial. Along with this, the name of every soldier will be engraved on a special brick of 'Tyaag Chakra'. This memorial salutes the sacrifice of every soldier who sacrificed his life for the country after independence.
Why is Operation Sindoor so important?
Operation Sindoor is counted among India's biggest military operations. In this, our army had destroyed the terrorist bases built across the border. After this, tension increased between the two countries, but our army responded to the enemy with full force and planning. We lost 6 of our brave men in this mission.
