CJP Protest: Tear Gas Fired as Police Disperse Protesters, Parliament Gates Sealed
To stop the CJP protesters from advancing and bring the situation under control, police fired tear gas shells, leading to a brief moment of chaos at the scene.
New Delhi: Amid the Cockroach Janta Party's march, the Delhi police used tear gas to disperse protesters near the Parliament complex. Supporters of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) approached the Parliament building on Monday. Protesters attempted to enter the building.
What happen near Parliament?
Thousands of protesters marched towards Parliament during the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP)'s "Sansad Chalo" march, forcing security agencies to take immediate action. The situation became more serious when some protesters tried to cross security barricades. Police and security forces then resorted to tear gas shells, lathi charge, and anti-riot vehicles to control the crowd.

The protest, which began at Jantar Mantar on Monday, gradually moved towards the Parliament area. Large numbers of people joined the march from various parts of the capital. As the crowds advanced, tensions developed between protesters and police at several locations around Jantar Mantar, Rail Bhavan, Shastri Bhavan, and Janpath. Security forces repeatedly attempted to stop and control the crowds, while the protesters insisted on continuing their march.
What did the police do?
Police made repeated announcements to disperse protesters around Rail Bhavan and Transport Bhavan. When some protestors attempted to remove barricades, security forces fired tear gas and took additional steps to push the crowd back. Police, CRPF, and riot control teams worked for approximately one and a half hours to bring the situation under control. Afterward, the crowds were gradually dispersed.
In view of the protests, security arrangements around the Parliament House were tightened beyond any previous standards. Additional CRPF, paramilitary forces, and Parliament security personnel were deployed in Vijay Chowk, Raisina Road, Parliament Street, and surrounding areas. Security agencies declared the entire area a security cordon to prevent any untoward incident.

What happen in Vijay Chowk?
Protesters also reached Vijay Chowk, where another confrontation between police and protesters erupted. Security officials immediately deployed reinforcements and increased security at the entrances to the Parliament building. All routes leading into and out of the Parliament complex were closely monitored to prevent any security breaches.
