Nobel Peace Prize 2025: The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided to award the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize to Maria Corina Machado for her tireless work promoting democratic rights for the people of Venezuela and for her struggle to achieve a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy. With this the US President Donald Trump missed the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee stated that Maria is a "unifying figure" in Venezuela's opposition. The committee further said, "Venezuela’s authoritarian regime makes political work extremely difficult." It added, "As a founder of Súmate, an organisation devoted to democratic development, Ms Machado stood up for free and fair elections more than 20 years ago."

"Machado has brought her country’s opposition together. She has never wavered in resisting the militarisation of Venezuelan society. She has been steadfast in her support for a peaceful transition to democracy," it further added.

Donald Trump's Nobel Peace Prize hopes end

With the announcement of the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize winner on Friday, Donald Trump's bid for the award has come to an end. Meanwhile, Trump on several occasions earlier, had demanded for a Nobel Peace Prize for himself. He had said, ''In just seven months, I have ended seven unendable wars. He had said, "They said they were unendable, some were going for 31 years, and one was 36 years. I ended seven wars, and in all cases they were raging with countless thousands of people being killed."
