WhatsApp's latest update: Hide your phone number with usernames

WhatsApp is not so popular among people, in fact, the company keeps adding new features to the app every few times for a better experience of users. Now a big privacy update is coming soon in the app, which is going to change the way the app is run. The company is working on a great feature after which you will be able to hide your phone number from other users on WhatsApp.

This privacy feature will be liked by those who do not want to share their number with any other person. After the introduction of this feature, you will be identified with the username on WhatsApp, you will be able to connect with each other through username on the app. According to WABetaInfo, a site that monitors WhatsApp development, the company is currently beta testing this feature, but a stable update of this feature can be released soon after beta testing is completed.

Some rules have to be followed

• The username must contain at least one letter and will not begin with [www] or (http://www).
• Numbers, underscores, lowercase letters can be used in the username.
• After the username is created, you will see confetti animation.

Will you be able to hide the number from everyone?

It is not clear whether the phone number hiding option will work for all contacts. It is definitely mentioned in the media report that whenever someone who does not have your number tries to contact you on WhatsApp, that person will see the username instead of your number.

Note

If you change the username later, the other person will be notified in your chats, as is done when you update your profile picture and phone number.
