Tablet: This company remains at the top of India's tablet market, even 'beating' Apple

In the first half of 2025, India’s tablet market shipments fell 32.2 percent. Samsung led the market, with Lenovo second and Apple third, according to IDC, highlighting declining demand trends.

Tech News:  The Indian tablet market has declined in the first half of 2025. Data from IDC (International Data Corporation) has shown that tablet shipments have declined by 32.2 percent year-on-year. Despite the decline, 2.15 million units were shipped in the first half. Let's know which companies dominate the top 5 companies in the tablet segment? Thanks to aggressive online promotion, Samsung has maintained its grip on the tablet market even in a declining market, with the company holding about 41.3 percent of the total market share.

Samsung has also left behind big players like Lenovo and Apple. Lenovo is in second place with a 12.3 percent share, while Apple is in third place with a 11.8 percent share. Xiaomi is in fourth place with a 11.4 percent share, Acer is in fifth place with a 9.1 percent share.

Why did shipments decline?

The decline in the Indian tablet market is due to a decrease in commercial demand, especially a decrease in government-funded education programs, which has affected the tablet market. According to IDC, shipments in the April-June quarter (2Q25) declined by 42.1 percent year-on-year compared to a year-on-year decline of 18.4 percent in the first quarter of 2025. On the other hand, commercial shipments declined by 61.7 percent year-on-year, mainly due to a 66.7 percent decline in education tenders and a 26.2 percent decline in enterprise demand.

These things increased demand

Shipments have declined but the consumer tablet market grew 20.5 percent year-on-year in the first half. A strong sales strategy, seasonal sales campaigns like Amazon Prime Day, and ongoing back-to-school promotions have boosted sales through e-commerce and retail stores. Growing interest in larger screens, stylus devices, and lower-priced entry-level models have also fueled demand.
