UP Double Murder: Court Awards Life Term To Six For Revenge Killings Linked To Love Affair

Shahjahanpur: A feud that began nearly four years ago in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, has finally reached a court verdict. The district court has convicted six people in a sensational double murder case and sentenced them to life imprisonment. The court delivered its verdict based on the investigation, scientific evidence, and witnesses, assessing the roles of both parties.

What is the case about?

Public Prosecutor Vinod Shukla stated that this case is from Dahar village, under the jurisdiction of the Jalalabad police station. This double murder, which occurred on June 8, 2022, shocked the entire district. While the case initially appeared straightforward, the investigation revealed a shocking truth.

According to the prosecution, Ompal Kashyap's wife, Mamta, had an affair with Raman Pal Yadav, a resident of the village. They went to work together in Delhi. Later, when the lockdown was imposed, they returned to their village. After returning, the relationship became a source of constant conflict and tension.

According to the public prosecutor, Ompal was extremely upset with the relationship between his wife and her lover. Fueled by this anger, Ompal arrived with his sons Sonu and Amit, and Pramod from the village, while Raman Pal was working in the fields at around 5:30 pm on June 8, 2022.

Allegedly, the four attacked Raman Pal with axes, sticks, and rods. He died on the spot from severe injuries. This murder became the first episode of the entire dispute.

What about second murder?

Upon receiving news of Raman Pal's murder, his brothers Sarvesh and Ajay rushed to the farm. According to the prosecution, they then targeted Mamta, Raman Pal's girlfriend and Ompal's wife, in retaliation.

The investigation revealed that the two brothers strangled Mamta to death with her own scarf. An attempt was then made to portray the entire incident as being committed by Ompal and his sons.

What did the court say?

The court of Additional Sessions Judge Neha Anand has sentenced six people to life imprisonment in connection with a double murder case that derived from a love affair and a subsequent act of revenge.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 each on the four members of Ompal's side and Rs 55,000 each on Sarvesh and Ajay. Following this verdict, the case has sparked renewed discussion throughout the area.
