Noida, Greater Noida, and the Yamuna Expressway Authority (YEIDA) area are set to welcome a fleet of 500 electric buses, a significant step toward sustainable urban transport. Launched as a ₹675 crore project, this initiative will see two companies operating buses across 25 routes for 12 years, connecting key areas, including the Noida International Airport.

A Boost for Public Transport

The initiative, driven by the Uttar Pradesh government, addresses the region’s long-standing need for reliable public transport. With commuters heavily reliant on autos and e-rickshaws, the introduction of 500 e-buses aims to enhance last-mile connectivity and reduce dependence on private vehicles.  Key routes include Noida airport to Sector 62, Noida City Centre to Pari Chowk, and Greater Noida West to Sector 18, ensuring seamless access to commercial and residential hubs.

Eco-Friendly and Efficient

These electric buses are designed to promote a greener future, aligning with India’s sustainability goals. The project includes the development of charging stations, greenfield depots, and maintenance facilities, with ₹525 crore allocated for buses and ₹150 crore for infrastructure. An Intelligent Transport System (ITS) will enhance efficiency through real-time GPS tracking, automated fare collection, and CCTV surveillance. A central command center will monitor operations, ensuring reliability.

Economic and Social Impact

The ₹675 crore project, managed by a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) formed by the three authorities, is set to transform commuting while creating jobs in operations and maintenance.  Affordable fares, aligned with Delhi Transport Corporation rates, will make the service accessible, with non-fare revenue from advertisements adding financial sustainability.

A Connected Future

Set to launch before the Noida International Airport opens in July 2025, this e-bus service promises to redefine urban mobility. By connecting key areas and reducing carbon emissions, it paves the way for a cleaner, more efficient Noida.
