A horrific road accident shook the quiet town of Nerwa in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. A Scorpio car veered off a narrow road and plunged into the turbulent waters of the Shalvi River, claiming the lives of two occupants. The tragedy, which occurred around 6 PM IST, has left the community in shock, with a 10-year-old child still missing.

Tragedy Strikes Nerwa

According to local authorities, the victims were part of a group traveling to Nerwa to attend a spiritual satsang, a religious gathering common in the region.  The Scorpio crashed through a barrier and plummeted into the river below, submerging almost immediately due to the strong currents.

Scorpio Plunges into Shalvi River

The accident left a 10-year-old child unaccounted for, prompting an urgent search operation. Police, along with local volunteers, have been scouring the riverbanks and deploying divers to locate the missing child. The Shalvi River’s swift flow and rocky terrain have complicated efforts, but the community remains determined. “We won’t stop until we find the child,” said a local volunteer, reflecting the collective resolve.

The loss of two lives has cast a cloud over Nerwa, a close-knit town unaccustomed to such tragedies. Eyewitnesses described the harrowing scene, with debris from the vehicle scattered along the river’s edge. The police have cordoned off the area and are investigating the cause, suspecting slippery roads and low visibility as contributing factors.
