Mann Government Launches ‘Roshan Punjab’ Mission to End Power Cuts Across the State
With an investment of Rs 5,000 crore, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann aims to strengthen the power infrastructure, secure long-term coal supply, and modernize the electricity network across the state.

Punjab News: The problem of power cuts in Punjab is now coming to an end. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s government has launched the ‘Roshan Punjab’ scheme, under which the state has promised to provide 24-hour continuous and affordable electricity by next year. This is not just a plan but a mission to light up every home, every farm, and every industry in Punjab. The government has made a huge investment of Rs 5,000 crore for this work. This is the biggest expenditure in the power sector in Punjab’s history. The main aim is to strengthen the entire electricity system so that every village and city can get an uninterrupted power supply. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that this step is an important move toward Punjab’s development and people’s trust. He added that now no factory in Punjab will stop due to a power shortage, and no farmer will remain in darkness. Every household will get 24-hour electricity, that too at affordable rates.
Strong Steps for Continuous Power Supply
Power Minister Mr. Sanjeev Arora is supervising this project, while PSPCL Chairman Ajay Kumar Sinha and his team are working day and night to ensure electricity reaches every corner. The Mann government has taken solid measures to ensure uninterrupted power supply. A long-term coal supply has been secured from the Pachhwara mine so that power generation never stops. Along with this, the government has taken control of the GVK Thermal Plant to make sure electricity production remains under Punjab’s control and its benefits go directly to the people. To strengthen the power system across Punjab, new substations are being built, old ones are being repaired, and new electric lines are being installed. These improvements will help solve voltage problems, reduce power cuts, and ensure faster restoration of electricity during faults or breakdowns.
Safer and Cleaner Urban Power Network
In urban areas, a special project has been launched in 13 municipal corporations to improve safety and cleanliness. Under this project, non-electric wires are being removed from PSPCL poles, hanging cables are being fixed, and open meter boxes are being closed to provide people with a safer and cleaner environment. For the convenience of the public, a new modern call center with 180 seats has been started in Mohali. This will strengthen the 1912 helpline so that people’s complaints can be resolved quickly.
A Bright and Reliable Future for Punjab
The main goal of the ‘Roshan Punjab’ scheme is to provide reliable, affordable, and uninterrupted electricity to the people. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that this is not only about power supply but also about building the foundation of a brighter future for Punjab. Now, every home, every farm, and every industry in the state will truly shine that is the dream of ‘Roshan Punjab’.
