Punjab CM Slams Centre: If Cricket With Pakistan Is Allowed, Why Block Pilgrims From Kartarpur Sahib?

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has launched a sharp attack on the central government, questioning why cricket with Pakistan is allowed while Sikh pilgrims are denied access to Kartarpur Sahib and Nankana Sahib. He called it an insult to Punjab’s faith.

Punjab News: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has openly criticized the central government for adopting what he called a “double standard” policy. He said that while India allows cricket matches with Pakistan, it stops Sikh pilgrims from visiting Kartarpur Sahib and Nankana Sahib. According to him, this is not just about Sikhs but about Punjab’s collective identity. Mann pointed out that the government clears live matches against Pakistan, which millions watch on television. Yet, the same government closes the corridor that leads to Sikh holy shrines. “How can faith be treated as politics? Pilgrimage is devotion, not diplomacy,” he asked.

Films Blocked But Matches Continue

The Punjab CM also highlighted contradictions in cultural policy. He reminded that films featuring Pakistani artists are banned in the name of nationalism. But cricket with Pakistan is celebrated as patriotism. “Is profit bigger than people’s belief?” Mann questioned, saying faith cannot be treated like a trade.

Central Government’s Silence Questioned

Mann accused the Centre of ignoring Punjab’s sentiments. He said Kartarpur Sahib and Nankana Sahib are sacred lands where Sikhs only wish to bow their heads. “These are not political centers. Closing these doors is disrespect to Punjab’s soul,” he remarked strongly.

Punjab Floods And Neglect Cited

The CM also linked this controversy to Punjab’s flood crisis. He recalled that during devastating floods, the Centre only held press conferences, while his government sent medical teams and relief workers to over 2,300 villages. “We stood with people. They gave only promises,” he said.

Aid Blocked, Politics Blamed

Mann further alleged that the Centre delays funds and blocks projects to punish Punjab for not following its line. He noted that although ₹1,600 crore was announced for relief, not a single rupee has been delivered. “Is this justice or political revenge?” he asked.

Call To Respect Punjab’s Faith

Ending his statement, Mann reminded that Punjab is the land of martyrs like Bhagat Singh and Kartar Singh Sarabha. He said Punjab never bows and never will. “Cricket can wait, politics can wait, but devotion cannot wait. Kartarpur Sahib is our heart, not a bargaining chip,” he declared.
