Punjab News: The Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab has announced a sweeping relief package for those impacted by floods. A key feature of this move is the new “My Land, My Sand” policy, granting farmers full rights to remove and own sand from their fields. AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal praised the announcements as historic, saying no other state government has ever taken such large steps for its people. He noted that even while unwell, CM Mann thought only about helping Punjabis in crisis.
Manish Sisodia Joins In
Former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia also applauded the relief decisions, calling them unprecedented in Indian history. He emphasized that every farmer, worker, and family would get support, describing it as a symbol of Mann’s compassion for his people.
Financial Relief For Farmers
The government announced ₹20,000 per acre compensation for crop damage, the highest ever relief given by any state. Checks will be handed directly to farmers. Families of those who lost lives in floods will get ₹4 lakh each as immediate aid.
Support For Damaged Homes
Flood-hit families whose homes were destroyed will be surveyed, and compensation will be provided accordingly. The government assured that no affected household will be left behind, with rebuilding and financial assistance offered on priority.
Livestock And Health Measures
Livestock deaths will also be compensated, and a special vaccination drive will be launched. To prevent post-flood diseases, fogging machines will be deployed across 1,700 villages and 300 towns. Mobile medical teams will deliver medicines and treatment in affected areas.
Rebuilding Infrastructure
Educational institutions and power infrastructure damaged by floods will be restored at war footing. CM Mann emphasized that Punjab will emerge stronger from this disaster, with the entire state machinery and AAP volunteers ensuring every promise reaches the ground.
