The Mann government has also given many important instructions for the care of these women.
The youth and women wing of the AAP party has also intensified relief work in the flood-affected areas - Nabha, Pathankot, Gurdaspur and many other districts. The workers went from village to village and delivered relief material, ration and especially took care of the needs of women and children.
Essential Supplies Distributed To Women
Apart from this, sanitary pads and mosquito nets were also distributed to women in relief camps in Ferozepur and Fazilka. More than 11,103 ASHA workers deployed in the flood-affected districts are going door-to-door to provide medicines and raise awareness about water and vector-borne diseases. They are also giving priority to tracking and care of pregnant women and ensuring that there is no interruption in regular vaccination.
Mann Government Deploys Medical Aid
The Mann government deployed about 458 rapid response teams, 360 mobile medical units and 424 ambulances to help the people of flood-affected villages and pregnant women and provided delivery facilities through boat ambulances. Not only this, the health department also organized many medical camps to take care of the health of pregnant women and children and also provided special facilities for women. Prenatal checkups and medicines were also made available in these camps.
Boat ambulance and one helicopter deployed
In Gurdaspur, authorities have deployed boat ambulances and a helicopter specifically for emergency evacuation of critically ill patients, including pregnant women. These efforts have rescued eight pregnant women, one of whom delivered safely under medical supervision on the boat itself and gave birth to a healthy baby.
Health Department Brings Hope Amidst Floods
NDRF teams were activated for rescue operations. The health department has emerged as a ray of hope for the residents of flood-affected border villages along the Indo-Pak international border near the Sutlej river. Civil surgeon Dr. Rajwinder Kaur said that Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh has directed the department to provide all possible assistance to the flood victims, especially to evacuate pregnant women in distress and ensure their delivery.
Following these orders, the health department successfully rescued Manjit Kaur from Tendi Wala and Manpreet Kaur from Kalu Wala and admitted them to the civil hospital where they safely delivered their babies. 108 ambulance service was made available free of cost for pregnant women.
