Mann Government Strengthens Bathinda Water Network With Rs 26 Crore AMRUT 2.0 Investment

The Mann Government has launched a Rs 26 crore AMRUT 2.0 water supply project in Bathinda, promising clean and uninterrupted drinking water and ending years of hardship faced by thousands of residents.

Punjab News: Bathinda residents have struggled with water problems for a long time. Many areas faced dry taps and poor quality water. Families depended on borrowed water and tankers. This affected daily life and health. Clean water became a challenge. The Mann Government identified this as a priority issue. The new project aims to remove this long standing burden permanently.

What Is The Rs 26 Crore AMRUT 2.0 Plan?

The project is part of the AMRUT 2.0 scheme. It focuses on continuous water supply. The plan includes modern infrastructure and sustainable systems. The goal is not temporary relief. It is designed for future generations. Water distribution will become efficient. Conservation methods are also included.

What New Infrastructure Will Be Created?

Two large water tanks will be constructed under this project. One tank will be built in Amarpura Basti. The second will be set up in Model Town Phase 4 and 5. Each tank will store two lakh gallons of water. Around sixty three thousand meters of new pipeline will be laid. About eight thousand six hundred homes will get direct connections. Nearly thirty five thousand people will benefit.

Which Areas Will See The Biggest Change?

Amarpura Basti will receive continuous water supply. Model Town Phase 4 and 5 will also get permanent relief. These localities earlier faced severe shortages. Residents had no fixed supply timings. This project will change daily routines. Women and children will especially benefit. Water stress will finally end.

Mayor Padamjeet Singh Mehta described the project as a turning point. He said water borrowing will become history. He thanked Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann for prioritising Bathinda. He also acknowledged Local Bodies Minister Dr Ravjot Singh. According to him infrastructure strengthening is underway across Punjab. Public convenience remains the core focus.
