Punjab government has introduced a big welfare scheme for women. It was launched on Babasaheb Ambedkar’s birth anniversary. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann called it a tribute to social justice. The aim is to empower women financially. The scheme targets almost every eligible woman. It is being seen as a major step.

What financial benefits will women get?

Under this scheme, women will receive monthly financial support. Scheduled Caste women will get Rs 1500 per month. Women from other categories will receive Rs 1000 monthly. The money will be directly transferred to bank accounts. This will help in managing daily expenses. It is expected to bring financial relief.

Who can apply for this scheme?

All women above 18 years of age are eligible. The process has been kept very simple. Only three documents are required for registration. These include Aadhaar, Voter ID and bank account details. SC women will also need a caste certificate. The scheme aims for wide coverage.

How will registration take place?

Registration has already started in 9 constituencies. It will expand to 108 more areas from May 15. The government has set up around 26,000 centres. These include Anganwadi centres and Sewa Kendras. This will make the process easy for women. A support system has also been arranged.

Is there any deadline to apply?

There is no deadline for registration. Women can apply at any time. Even if someone registers late, benefits will not be affected. Payments will be given from July. This means even late applicants will get full benefits. This makes the scheme more inclusive.

What if documents are incomplete?

The government has made special provisions. SC women without caste certificates can still apply. They will initially receive Rs 1000 per month. Once the certificate is submitted, the remaining Rs 500 will be paid. This ensures that no eligible woman is left out.

What happens next?

The scheme will be expanded across the state in phases. Payments will start from July 2026. The government aims to cover almost all women. A large network has been created for smooth implementation. Now, attention is on execution and results.
