Punjab Govt Allocates Fuel and Gas Stocks to Support Districts Battling Flood Emergency

Amid severe floods in Punjab, the state government has allocated large reserves of petrol, diesel and LPG cylinders for districts. The initiative is aimed at ensuring uninterrupted relief operations and timely supply of essential fuel during the crisis.

National News: To tackle the ongoing flood situation, the Punjab government has rolled out a special allocation of fuel and gas reserves across affected districts. The Food and Civil Supplies Department has provided 33,000 litres of petrol, 46,500 litres of diesel and 1,320 LPG cylinders to different agencies. These emergency supplies will help maintain smooth operations at petrol pumps and gas agencies, ensuring that essential needs of people are met without delay.

District-Wise Distribution Plan

For Amritsar district, 4,000 litres each of petrol and diesel along with 50 LPG cylinders have been reserved. Barnala received 1,000 litres petrol, 1,500 litres diesel and 50 cylinders. Bathinda was allotted 1,500 litres petrol, 3,000 litres diesel and 25 cylinders. Faridkot received 1,000 litres each of petrol and diesel plus 50 cylinders. Each district has been given a fair share depending on its requirements.

Fuel Supply Across Punjab

In Ferozepur and Fazilka, 1,000 litres petrol and 2,000 litres diesel were allocated, with 50 LPG cylinders. Fatehgarh Sahib got 1,000 litres each of petrol and diesel along with 50 cylinders. Gurdaspur received 2,000 litres petrol, 3,000 litres diesel and 50 cylinders. Hoshiarpur and Jalandhar received smaller allocations but with higher LPG support for relief camps. These supplies ensure uninterrupted fuel access.

Focus on Major Cities

Ludhiana, Patiala and SAS Nagar, being major urban centres, received larger allocations. Ludhiana was allotted 1,000 litres petrol, 2,000 litres diesel and 50 cylinders. Patiala received 2,000 litres petrol, 3,000 litres diesel and 65 cylinders. SAS Nagar got 2,000 litres petrol, 3,000 litres diesel and 80 cylinders. These districts require additional support due to larger populations and relief camp demands.

Extra Support for Flooded Areas

Moga was given 1,000 litres petrol, 2,000 litres diesel and 100 cylinders. Rupnagar received 2,000 litres petrol, 3,000 litres diesel and 100 cylinders. SBS Nagar was allotted 2,000 litres petrol, 2,000 litres diesel and 100 cylinders. Tarntaran, one of the severely hit districts, received 3,000 litres petrol, 4,000 litres diesel and 50 cylinders. These allocations target flood-prone zones with maximum relief.

Government’s Relief Commitment

Punjab’s Food and Civil Supplies Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak said the state is fully committed to help its people during this crisis. He stressed that emergency reserves will prevent shortages in petrol pumps and gas agencies. Relief camps will get continuous fuel and LPG supplies. The minister added that the allocation plan is designed to ensure no citizen faces disruption in essential needs.

Government Guarantees Essential Flood Supplies

The Punjab government has appealed to citizens to remain calm and not worry about fuel or gas shortages. Officials have confirmed that strict monitoring is being carried out so that petrol, diesel and LPG reach every affected district. Distribution is being closely watched by police and civil authorities to prevent hoarding or black marketing. These emergency reserves are expected to keep essential services running without interruption. The state administration has also pledged full support to the people until the flood situation comes under control.
