National News: Before Diwali, happiness has returned to the homes of flood-hit farmers in Punjab. The Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has made history by giving compensation and relief within just 30 days. This shows how the government truly cares for its people and stands by them in every situation.

Quick Financial Help Released

The state government has issued the first installment of ₹209 crore for farmers and families affected by floods. Out of this, ₹3.50 crore will go to the victims in Sangrur district. Punjab’s Finance and Planning Minister, Harpal Singh Cheema, started the distribution from the Dhuri constituency, giving approval letters to eight affected families. He said that under Chief Minister Mann’s leadership, the government ensured no one would have to wait long for their rightful help.

First-of-Its-Kind Mission for Farmers

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann had earlier started “Mission Punarvas” (Mission Rehabilitation) by giving ₹5.70 crore to 631 farmers in Ajnala. This move set a new example across the country, as Punjab became the first state to give ₹20,000 per acre in compensation to farmers. Families whose homes were damaged in the floods are now getting ₹40,000 each, which is a big rise from the earlier ₹4,000.

Support with Dignity and Respect

Minister Cheema said that the Mann government is not only giving financial help but also giving respect to the affected families. The aim of “Mission Punarvas” is to help them rebuild their lives. He added that 13 Cabinet Ministers are visiting all flood-hit areas to personally hand over the relief money and make sure that no one is left out of government aid. He also said that the Punjab government faced the floods with full strength and the help of the people. Because of timely action, the damage was controlled. He praised the Sangrur District Administration, saying that even though the Ghaggar River reached 755 feet, not a single embankment broke — proof of the administration’s strong work.

Central Aid Still Awaited

Deputy Commissioner Rahul Chaba said that early preparations were made as per the directions of the Punjab government. Because of this, no embankment broke along the 41-kilometer stretch of the Ghaggar River despite heavy rain. He credited this to the Chief Minister’s foresight and the timely response of the government. Cheema requested the Central Government to release the ₹1,600 crore aid announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi quickly. He mentioned that the ₹240 crore given so far is just part of the regular yearly funds, and Punjab still awaits the promised assistance. He said that even without full central support, the Mann government continues to help people with its own resources and public cooperation.

People Express Gratitude

Gurmel Singh, a farmer from Sangrur, became emotional and said, “This is the first time a government has responded to our pain so fast. Now we feel the government truly stands with us.” Jaswinder Kaur, another affected villager, said, “This Diwali feels special because of the government’s help. The Mann Government has truly touched our hearts.” The compensation given before Diwali is not just a relief measure but also part of Punjab’s plan to make every citizen strong and self-reliant. Under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s leadership, “Mission Punarvas” is building a new hope for Punjab, a state ready to overcome every challenge with courage. This effort proves that honest and people-focused leadership always wins hearts. This Diwali, the light is not only in homes but also in every Punjabi heart, as the Mann Government has once again shown that promises made are promises kept.
