Punjab Farmers Receive Rs 20,000 Per Acre in Record 30 Days as AAP Fulfills Promise
By giving compensation before Diwali, the government instilled confidence among farmers, proving that when it comes to Punjab, this government not only promises but also delivers. This spirit strengthens Punjab, showing unity in times of crisis and support for its people.

Punjab News: When floods hit Punjab, millions of acres of farmland and crops were destroyed. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, acted quickly to help farmers. A special crop damage survey was announced on September 11, but the government started giving compensation in just 30 days. Crops in 2,508 villages and nearly 3.5 lakh acres of land were damaged, yet farmers began receiving Rs 20,000 per acre without any delay. This is the fastest and largest flood relief effort in Punjab’s history.
Extra Compensation From State Resources
Even when there was no response from the central government despite requests for aid, Punjab gave farmers an additional Rs 13,200 per acre from its own resources. This showed that the Punjab government does not leave farmers dependent on others. Compensation amounts are being directly transferred to farmers’ bank accounts, leaving no room for middlemen or delays.
Support for Homes, Families, and Livestock
A rapid survey of homes was conducted. Survey of 30,806 houses was completed, and compensation for partially damaged homes was increased from Rs 6,500 to Rs 40,000. Families who lost loved ones in the floods received Rs 4 lakh each. Compensation for livestock and poultry losses was also finalized, ensuring no family faces the crisis alone. For the first time, all assessments and compensation distributions were done through a transparent online portal. In the Ajnala region, over Rs 5 crore was given directly to farmers and affected families across 52 villages. Teams were activated at the ground level to ensure relief reached every village, farmer, and family.
Rebuilding and Rehabilitation Efforts
Under the “Whose Field, Their Sand” policy, work to restore flood-affected land for farming is moving quickly. Through Mission ‘Chardikala,’ the Punjab government has committed to rebuilding flood-affected villages. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann emphasised that Punjab’s farmers will never be alone—the government stands with them every step of the way. While the opposition was busy politicizing the floods, the AAP government prioritized relief and rehabilitation. By giving compensation before Diwali, the government instilled confidence among farmers, proving that when it comes to Punjab, this government not only promises but also delivers. This spirit strengthens Punjab, showing unity in times of crisis and support for its people.
