More than 1,500 People Get Free Health Checkup in One-Day Camp at Nandanagar
A team of 28 specialist doctors conducted free tests such as ECG, liver and sugar tests, bone density, and blood pressure. The initiative was praised as a great relief for people in disaster-affected and remote hill regions.
Chamoli: A one-day free health camp was organised in the border area of Nandanagar, Chamoli district, by Junoon Charitable Trust, Delhi. More than 1,500 people from nearby remote villages came for medical checkups and received various health services.
Who inaugurated the health camp?
The camp was inaugurated by local MLA Bhupal Ram Tamta. District Panchayat President Daulat Bisht was also present at the event. He said that this health camp is a meaningful step to bring relief to the disaster-affected people of Nandanagar. Along with providing medical advice and treatment, the camp also distributed daily-use items to affected families.
What did the officials say about the initiative?
District Magistrate Gaurav Kumar and Superintendent of Police Surjeet Panwar also visited the camp. They thanked the doctors and medical team of Junoon Charitable Trust for offering health services in such a remote area. They mentioned that such social efforts are inspiring for the administration. They added that providing good healthcare facilities in border areas like Nandanagar is very important, and such camps are proving very helpful for local residents.
How many doctors took part in the camp?
A total of 28 specialist doctors from well-known hospitals joined the camp. These included experts in pediatrics, cardiology, orthopedics, dentistry, and gynecology. Free tests like ECG, liver test, sugar test, bone density test, and blood pressure check were done for patients. The event coordinator, Dr. Girish Vaishnav, said the organization has been running such camps in the district for the last 25 years. Every year, health services are provided to around 2,000 people through detailed medical checkups. He added that lifestyle-related diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and fatty liver are increasing fast even in hill areas, which is a matter of concern.
How did local people respond to the camp?
Local residents appreciated the initiative, saying that it is a big relief to have specialist doctors from big cities like Delhi and Dehradun visit their area. They said such camps are a blessing for people living in distant villages. Many respected citizens, including Block Chief Hima Devi, Dr. Saurabh Vaishnav, Kripal Bisht, Rakesh Dimri, former Nagar Panchayat President Himani Vaishnav, SDM R.K. Pandey, other officials, and staff members, were present on this occasion.
