Chandigarh: In a landmark move for families across Punjab, the state government is set to deliver ration directly to homes. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have transformed the popular 'Atta-Dal' (Flour-Pulse) scheme into a comprehensive ‘Complete Kitchen Package.’ This initiative aims to provide direct support and financial relief to Punjab’s poor and middle-class households, ensuring they have access to essential kitchen supplies without depending on the market.

New Items Added to the Ration

Chief Minister Mann has announced major additions for the existing beneficiaries. The new ration package will include: 2 kg of pulses, 2 kg of sugar, 1 kg of tea leaves, 1 liter of mustard oil, and 200 grams of turmeric, along with wheat. Families will no longer need to rely on the market to meet their basic kitchen needs. The scheme is expected to be fully implemented from April 2026.

Home Delivery to Benefit 1.42 Crore People

The Mann government has also changed how ration will be distributed. Starting from the New Year, poor families will receive wheat and flour at their doorstep. The scheme will cover 1.42 crore beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act, distributing 72,500 metric tons of ration each month. People will no longer need to stand in long queues, showcasing the AAP government’s focus on honest and transparent governance.

Quarterly Distribution for Families

The ration package will be provided four times a year—April, June, October, and December. Out of 65 lakh families in Punjab, 40 lakh will benefit from this expanded scheme. Thirty-six flour mills have been selected to grind wheat, ensuring good quality and timely delivery.

AAP Government’s Commitment to Public Welfare

The government is already spending Rs 22,000 crores on free electricity for 300 units and Rs 600 crores on free bus travel. This new ration initiative proves that the Mann government is focused on easing the daily life of common people. With these measures, Punjab’s future is being secured, and families’ kitchen burdens are being reduced, showing that the government truly cares for its citizens.
