CM Mann to Hold Historic Mock Session for Students in Punjab Assembly on November 26
The initiative reflects the Mann government’s commitment to preparing informed, confident, and responsible future citizens through practical political education.
The Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has taken a remarkable step in education to encourage young people to contribute to nation-building. The ‘Mock Session’ that will take place in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha on November 26 is not just an event but a training ground for democracy where future leaders will be shaped. This program is specially planned for students of government schools. It highlights that the Mann government cares about their political and social learning as much as their academic progress. This is a moment of pride and inspiration for students, especially those coming from rural areas.
How Will Students Participate in the Mock Session?
Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker S. Kultar Singh Sandhwan held a virtual meeting with all District Officers and instructed them to choose one student from each Assembly constituency of Punjab. The student from Dhuri will act as Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, while the student from Qadian will play the role of Leader of the Opposition. Students from the Scheduled Caste (SC) category will be chosen for reserved seats. One student from every AAP MLA’s area will sit on the treasury benches, while those from constituencies of Cabinet Ministers will act as Ministers.
Speaker Sandhwan shared that students from classes 11 and 12 will take part in this Mock Session, which is being held in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha for the very first time. The session will continue for the whole day, just like a real Assembly session. He said that only when students understand politics can they make wise decisions and choose the right representatives. He added that about 2,400–2,500 government school students have already visited the Assembly. In this Mock Session, one student from each constituency will be selected to learn about how laws are made, how budgets are prepared, and how the political system works.
What Is the Aim of This Educational Initiative?
This decision shows that the Mann government is not only making buildings “smart” but also developing “smart” and aware young minds for the nation’s future. Speaker Sandhwan emphasized that the main goal is to help students gain real knowledge of politics and the law-making process. The Punjab government is taking major steps to ensure that students get an understanding of political systems along with their studies.
How Will Students Benefit From This Experience?
Politics often seems like something distant that many young people avoid. But through this Mock Session, government school students from every constituency will get the chance to sit in the Assembly and act as the Chief Minister, Ministers, and Opposition Leaders. They will experience how questions are raised, how laws are created, and how elected representatives work. The Mann government’s effort goes far beyond textbook learning—it is an investment in building honest and responsible leaders for the future.
When a student from a simple background gets to sit on the same chair where Punjab’s great leaders once sat, it will fill them with confidence. They will realize that they are not just citizens but active members of a democratic system. This experience will teach them that the power to make change lies with the common people and that it is important to choose the right leaders. Such steps by the Mann government ensure that democracy in Punjab remains strong and alive.
How Does This Step Shape the Future of the Nation?
This decision by the Mann government is not just a one-day event—it is an investment in the nation’s future. It will help students develop leadership skills, think deeply about serious issues, and understand the importance of participation in democracy. On November 26, the Punjab Vidhan Sabha will witness history as young minds demonstrate their potential to lead India’s tomorrow. It will be a proud and emotional moment proving that the future of democracy lies in capable hands.
This initiative deserves appreciation as it shows that education means more than earning degrees—it is also about learning one’s duty towards society and the country. The ‘Mock Session’ will inspire millions of students and provide Indian democracy with new energy and responsible leadership. It is not just a single event but the beginning of a bright and promising future.
