Himachal CM Sukhu Announces 500 New Police Posts to Combat Drug Abuse

The Chief Minister was felicitating the winners of the 12th Half Marathon organised by Himachal Police on the theme 'We will defeat drug abuse together' at the Ridge Ground in Shimla.
Speaking at the Ridge Ground in Shimla while felicitating winners of the 12th HP Police Half Marathon, themed “We Will Defeat Drug Abuse Together,” Sukhu emphasized that the additional manpower would enhance law enforcement’s capacity to tackle the growing drug menace. This recruitment drive aims to strengthen policing in vulnerable areas, ensuring swift action against drug-related activities across the state.
Zero-Tolerance Policy on Drugs
He outlined plans for stricter measures, including intensified crackdowns on drug smugglers and peddlers. Sukhu revealed that the state is compiling a comprehensive database of drug traffickers at the panchayat level to enable targeted operations. Additionally, he disclosed that 80 government employees, including some police personnel, have already faced legal action for their involvement in drug-related offenses.
