Delhi-NCR Sees Sudden Weather Shift After Heavy Rain, IMD Issues New Advisory

New Delhi: For the past several days, heat and humidity had made life difficult in Delhi-NCR. The situation was worse on Tuesday before Wednesday. The sun had been scorching since morning. The heat increased further as the day progressed. The mercury reached 43.5 degrees, which was much higher than normal. In the ridge area, 44.7 degrees were recorded.

How did the weather change by the evening?

Suddenly everything changed in the evening. A strong dust storm hit the capital. According to meteorologists, this change was due to the cyclone formed in the middle of Pakistan and moist winds coming from the Arabian Sea. 

How strong was the storm?

The storm hit many areas between 6:30 and 7:30. The speed was different everywhere. In Mayur Vihar the wind blew at a speed of 13 kilometers per hour, but in Palam it reached 120 kilometers per hour. Experts are saying that such a storm has been seen in Palam after about 25 years. But it lasted only for a few minutes, so the temperature did not drop much immediately. The bus blew away the dust and passed by.

When did it start raining at night?

After the storm, drizzle started in many parts of Delhi around 10:30 pm. The sequence continued till after midnight. When the cold wind blew along with the rain, the weather became completely pleasant. People heaved a sigh of relief after several days. People sitting on the terrace and drinking tea were also seen.

How will the weather be on Wednesday and the next 2 days?

The Meteorological Department is saying that the sky may remain cloudy on Wednesday. Wind is expected to blow at a speed of 30-40 kilometers throughout the day. There may also be light rain with the formation of thunder clouds in the afternoon or evening. There is an orange alert for Thursday and a yellow alert for Friday. There are chances of strong storms and rain on both these days. If it rains, the temperature will drop further and there will be more relief from the heat.

Will the heat subside now?

The temperature will come down due to rain and strong wind. People of Delhi-NCR will get some respite from heat wave and humidity. But the heat has not gone completely yet, after light rain the humidity may return again. So be careful. At present the night rain has made the heart happy. The lightning flashed, the wind blew and the sleep was good.
