New Delhi: A video of Union Minister Piyush Goyal is becoming increasingly viral on social media. It was claimed in the video that he has given a controversial statement regarding the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protesters. However, Piyush Goyal completely rejected this claim and said that this video is not real but a deepfake created with the help of artificial intelligence (AI). He said that legal action will be taken against those who try to mislead people in this way.
What is the matter with viral video?
In the video going viral on social media, it was claimed that while talking to the media outside the Parliament, Piyush Goyal made objectionable remarks about the protesters. As soon as the video surfaced, it started getting shared rapidly and various types of reactions started coming on it.
However, after some time the minister himself came forward and clarified the entire matter and said that his voice and statement in the video had been tampered with.

Did the complaint lodge with police?
The minister said that a complaint has been lodged at Chanakyapuri police station regarding the matter. He said that all the people making the video, sharing and spreading it will be identified and action will be taken as per law.

Piyush Goyal appealed to the people not to immediately trust any information going viral on social media. He said that any news or video should be confirmed only from official and reliable sources. He also said that misuse of modern technology like AI is a matter of serious concern for both the society and the democratic system.

In this case, PIB Fact Check also investigated the viral video. PIB clarified that this video is not genuine and it has been created with the help of AI. Fact check said that Piyush Goyal had not given any such statement regarding the protesting students as is being shown in the video.
