21 Dead in Malviya Nagar Hotel Fire: Foreign Nationals Among Victims
At least 21 people died in a massive fire that broke out at a restaurant in Delhi's Malviya Nagar area on Wednesday. Eyewitnesses said that many people on the third floor started jumping from the ceiling.
New Delhi: A major tragedy occurred in Delhi's Malviya Nagar on Wednesday morning when a massive fire broke out in a hotel claiming the lives of 21 people, while 37 people were evacuated safely.
Where did the incident happen?
A massive fire broke out in a hotel-restaurant loacted in Hauz Rani's Malviya Nagar area on Wednesday at around 9 am and claimed the lives of 21 people. The accident happened at a time when the people staying in the hotel rooms could not even wake up from their sleep. Within a few minutes, smoke spread throughout the building.

What did the people say?
According to eyewitnesses, the fire was so intense that even those on the third floor began screaming for their lives and started jumping from the ceiling.
According to reports, many of the people staying in the hotel were asleep at dawn. And most of the people staying at the hotel were foreigners and had come to the nearby hospital for treatment.
What did the officers say?
Regarding the fire incident, Fire Officer AK Malik said that the Fire Department received the call at 8:50 am. He also shared that initially, seven fire tenders were dispatched to the scene.
While sharing details of the hotel, the office said that "As soon as our team reached the site, they immediately rescued 37 people from the building... This is a multi-story building. It consists of a basement, a ground floor, and five upper floors. Based on inquiries made with people at the site, we have gathered that this building does not function as a standalone residential complex."

Were foreigners also there in the hotel?
According to the reports, many people, who are injured in the incident were foreign nationals and mot of them are believed to be from African countries.
The fire officer said that, "It appears that most of the occupants were individuals whose known people were being treated in the MAX Hospital located directly across the street. Therefore, it is likely that these individuals were staying here for that specific purpose... Yes, foreign nationals were also among the occupants."
