BCCI plans Rohit Sharma’s exit, fitness tests decide Australia tour ticket
BCCI is reportedly preparing to sideline Rohit Sharma. His inclusion in the Australia tour depends on clearing mandatory Yo-Yo and Bronco fitness tests, raising questions over his international future.

Rohit Sharma: India's ODI captain Rohit Sharma will have to prove his fitness for the Australia tour. For this, he will have to undergo Yo-Yo and the newly introduced Bronco test at the BCCI Center of Excellence (CoE) in Bangalore. Rohit will be present in Bangalore from September 13 for fitness test and training. According to a report in the Times of India, Rohit Sharma will reach the BCCI Center of Excellence on September 13, where his fitness will be assessed.
Rohit will stay at the COE for two-three days and will also practice there. This preparation is for the white-ball tour of Australia in November. During this time, the final of the Duleep Trophy will also be going on at the COE, so Rohit's test and practice will be on a different ground in the same complex.
Yo-Yo plus Bronco test mandatory
This time the fitness test for Rohit includes a new bronco test in addition to the Yo-Yo test. This test is designed to test the stamina and speed of the players. Rohit will have to pass both the tests so that he can prove to be fully fit for the Australia tour. This step reflects the increasing focus on the fitness of the players from the BCCI.
Preparations for Australia tour
India has to play a three-match ODI series in Australia, which will start in Perth from October 19. To prepare for this tour, Rohit and his teammate Virat Kohli are likely to play three ODIs against Australia A for India-A. This series will be held at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur on 30 September, 3 October and 5 October. This series will be a good practice for both the players before the Australia tour.
Rohit's recent performance
38-year-old Rohit Sharma last played for India against New Zealand in the final of the Champions Trophy in March 2025.
