Team India had to endure a humiliating defeat on the Australia tour. Under Rohit Sharma's leadership, India lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 3-1. Before that, Team India had a sweep in the Test series against New Zealand at home. In those days, the Indian captain not only lost the series but even his own performance was not impressive. That's why he was severely criticized. Especially after the tour of Australia, it was felt to be the end of his Test career. But the BCCI has remained faithful to him. As per the report, Rohit will be a member of the Indian team for the June Test series against England.

Rohit to travel to England

The Times of India report says that the Indian cricket team's selectors have shortlisted 35 players. All of these players are eligible to be included in India A's England tour ahead of the five-match Test series. The tour will commence a week after IPL 2025 ends. This will also mark the beginning of the campaign for the new cycle of the World Test Championship.

Poor performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy

Rohit can accompany the India A team during this time. The board feels that the England tour will be challenging and a tough captain will be needed. There was talk of the change following the poor performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. But following the Champions Trophy win, Rohit received backing from the BCCI and his Test captaincy was preserved.

Entry of two players

Other than Rohit, Karun Nair, who has been out of the squad for a long time, can be included. Other than them, Rajat Patidar can also find an opportunity in the tour of England. There was a middle-order issue in India's Test squad for some time. For this, Patidar and Nair have been eyed by the selectors for the number 5 or 6 slot. Both of these can be experimented in the India 'A' series.

BCCI is not depending heavily on Sarfaraz Khan

The BCCI is not depending heavily on Sarfaraz Khan for that. Meanwhile, Sai Sudarshan is also in the run for being selected as the third opener. Surprisingly, even though Shreyas Iyer was included in the central contract, he has not been shortlisted yet. Other than him, the name of Axar Patel, who is deemed to be Ravindra Jadeja's replacement, has not been inked yet.
