Rahul Dravid In Race To Succeed Brendan McCullum As England's Test Coach
It is being heard that head coach Brendon McCullum's time is over. ECB i.e. England Board has started searching for a new coach.
New Delhi: There is going to be a big change in the England Test team soon. It is being heard that head coach Brendon McCullum's time is over. ECB i.e. England Board has started searching for a new coach. And the name of Rahul Dravid is coming at the top of this list.
Who else is in the race?
Apart from Dravid, many other names are in the running. Zimbabwe's Andy Flower, Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara, Australia's Justin Langer, Pakistan's coach Mike Hesson and England's old player Andrew Flintoff. But Dravid is being discussed the most.
Why is Dravid's name at the forefront?
The simple thing is, Dravid's record is amazing. The first under-19 team won the World Cup. Then when he took over the senior team, he also won the T20 World Cup 2024. Also played the 2023 ODI World Cup final. The players themselves believe that with Dravid there is discipline in the team. He follows a plan and understands every player. He has scored more than 13 thousand runs in Tests also. England right now needs such a solid coach who can make the team a long-term force.
Will the baseball era end after McCullum?
McCullum and Ben Stokes changed the style of Test cricket in England. Play fast, don't be afraid – this is what was called 'baseball'. It was fun in the beginning, but results have not been coming for the last 2-3 years. Could not play the final even once in the 3 cycles of WTC. Therefore, it seems that the style of the team will also change with the new coach. A little patient and a little technical cricket can be seen.
How was McCullum's tenure?
Under McCullum, England played 55 Tests. Won 27, lost 20. The figure is not bad. But when the team could not survive on the big occasion, the board felt that change was necessary. If Dravid gets a chance, the atmosphere in the England dressing room will change completely. If Dravid's balance is combined with baseball speed, England can look strong again.
