The Board of Cricket Control of India (BCCI) has declared the interim suspension of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 matches. This declaration came following the suspension of the Punjab-Delhi match in the middle at Dharamsala amid rising tensions between Pakistan and India.

IPL Governing Council Confirms One-Week Suspension

The Governing Council of the IPL has asserted that the tournament has been postponed for only a week. In 7 days, the conditions will be reviewed again, and the decision regarding the resumption of the IPL will be taken. A new schedule will be released next week.

Potential Resumption in August-September

If things do not show any improvement even after seven days' time, the BCCI might think about staging the rest of the IPL 2025 games in August-September. This would imply that the Asia Cup, which is planned to be held during this period, may be less likely to occur.

Remaining Matches to be Played

There are still 16 games of the IPL to be played, including the final. The BCCI will have to coordinate the logistics of getting these matches played, and only time will tell how these are carried out.

BCCI's Decision in the Interest of Stakeholders

The BCCI stated that the action to suspend the IPL was taken in the collective interest of all stakeholders such as the players, broadcasters, sponsors, and followers. The Board has absolute trust in the solidity and preparedness of the Armed Forces.
