Xi Jinping will give a grand welcome to PM Modi and Vladimir Putin and made a plan to corner Trump in the SCO Summit!

In New Delhi, Russian embassy officials revealed last week that Moscow is hopeful trilateral talks with China and India will soon materialize, aiming to strengthen diplomatic cooperation and present a united front on key international issues.

National News: Chinese President Xi Jinping is set to extend a grand welcome to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin at the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Tianjin, scheduled for August 31 and September 1. According to a Reuters report, the summit is expected to showcase a strong display of unity from the global south against U.S. President Donald Trump’s aggressive tariff measures. The high-profile gathering will also bring together top leaders from Central Asia, the Middle East, South Asia, and Southeast Asia.

PM Modi's visit to China after 7 years

This will be Prime Minister Narendra Modi's first visit to China after more than seven years. This is his first visit after the Galwan Valley conflict in 2020. Earlier, Modi and Xi Jinping were seen on one stage at the BRICS Summit held in Kazan, Russia, in 2024. This summit can provide an opportunity to give a new direction to the relations between India and China on the global stage.

Russia hopes for trilateral talks

Russian embassy officials in New Delhi said last week that "Moscow hopes that trilateral talks between China, India, and Russia will soon take place." This statement further highlights the importance of the SCO summit, which has the potential to start a new chapter in global diplomacy.

The new face of the global order

"Xi Jinping will use this summit to project the face of a post-US-dominated global order. The White House's efforts since January to contain China, Iran, Russia, and now India have not had the effect expected," said Eric Olander, editor-in-chief of The China-Global South Project. "Look at how much trouble the BRICS have caused Donald Trump. This summit is all about powerful visual impact (optics)," he added.

Know the historical importance of SCO!

A Chinese foreign ministry official said last week that this year's SCO summit would be the largest since the organization's founding in 2001. He described it as "an important force in building a new type of international relations." The summit will not only promote regional cooperation but also show solidarity among emerging powers at the global level.
