‘World trusts India, all set to build semiconductors’, says PM Narendra Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that the world trusts and believes in India and is ready to build the future of semiconductors with India.

National News: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the world is ready to build the future of semiconductors with India. He described that countries now trust India’s ability to lead the chip sector. He said semiconductors will shape technology, and India will be a key player. PM Modi announced that the government will soon launch the next generation of reforms to support semiconductor growth. He explained that these reforms will cut delays and give more support to companies. He said India’s goal is to become the global hub for chips.

Designed In India Dream

Modi said the day is near when the world will say “Designed in India, Made in India, and Trusted by World.” He added that even the smallest chip made in India will bring the biggest change. This, he said, is India’s promise to the world.

Chips Called New Diamonds

Modi compared chips to diamonds, saying oil was once called black gold but now chips are the real diamonds. He explained that semiconductors are used in phones, cars, computers, and medical tools. He said India’s growth depends on these “new age diamonds.”

Critical Minerals Mission

He spoke about India’s Critical Minerals Mission, which is important for chip manufacturing. Modi said India must secure resources like lithium, cobalt, and rare earths. Without these minerals, the world cannot make chips. He said India is working to build strong supply chains. He explained that India is tying up with friendly nations to ensure regular supply of these critical minerals.

The mission also includes research on recycling old electronics to recover rare minerals. Modi stressed that without this step, India would remain dependent on imports. He added that India’s goal is to be self-reliant in chip materials within the next decade.

Billions Already Invested

Since 2021, the government has approved 10 semiconductor projects worth 18 billion US dollars. Modi said this proves global confidence in India’s chip potential. Big companies are already showing interest. He said this is only the start of a much bigger journey. Modi explained that these projects will create thousands of new jobs across states.

He said Indian engineers will get opportunities to work on world-class chip design and production. The projects also include building new factories with advanced technology. According to Modi, once these factories start production, India will reduce its import bill and boost exports.

Strong Economy As Support

PM Modi also said India’s economy grew 7.8 percent in April-June 2025, which is higher than experts expected. He said this growth gives strength to India’s chip mission. A strong economy, he said, will support the push for reforms and new industries. Modi noted that global investors are watching India’s growth story with interest. He explained that foreign direct investment is rising because of policy stability.

The Prime Minister said a strong economy ensures more funding for new projects and infrastructure. He concluded by saying that this economic base will help India lead in semiconductors as well as other future technologies.
