Kolkata: After the election defeat in West Bengal, the resentment rising within the Trinamool Congress has now started coming out openly. Many leaders of the party have been publicly raising questions regarding the organization and leadership for the last few days. Meanwhile, the statement of Kolkata Municipal Corporation Trinamool councilor and mayor council member Tarak Singh has sparked a new discussion in political circles. He clearly said that the party needs new leadership and now change should be seriously considered.

Are questions being raised on Mamata Banerjee's leadership?

On the question of changing the leadership, Tarak Singh told the media, 'We want to change those who are leading.' When asked whether he meant Mamata Banerjee, the answer was, 'Yes, of course.' He further said, 'The party is not anyone's ancestral property. We want change in leadership. I am telling you openly. We want change in the leadership of TMC.

Why was Abhishek Banerjee targeted?

He also made indirect comments about Abhishek Banerjee. Although he did not take the name, he said that if there are continuous controversies and allegations around any leader, then his responsibility should be fixed. After his statement, many speculations have started in political circles.

Why did resignations increase concern?

After the election results came out, a series of resignations continued within the party. Councilor Sushant Ghosh resigned from his post saying that Trinamool has deviated from its original objective. At the same time, Arup Chakraborty also raised questions on the working style of the leadership while leaving the organizational responsibility. The statements of both the leaders indicated that dissatisfaction is not limited to the grassroots only.

Pressure also increased on the issue of corruption?

Former MP Shantanu Sen and other leaders have cited corruption allegations as a major reason for the election defeat. He says that job scams and other controversies damaged the party's image, the effect of which was reflected in the election results. Some leaders also said that the public has expressed their displeasure on these issues through their votes.

Could the crisis within the party deepen further?

Political analysts believe that continuous resignations, public statements of leaders and mutual allegations and counter-allegations can become a challenge for Trinamool Congress. At present, no major step has been taken by the party leadership on this entire controversy, but the way internal dissatisfaction is coming out openly, there are indications that the politics of Bengal will heat up further in the coming days
