Shekhawat Urges Citizens to Honour the Tricolor, Calls for Nationwide Participation in Har Ghar Tiranga

Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has urged every citizen to proudly hoist the national flag, stressing the importance of safeguarding its dignity and actively joining the Har Ghar Tiranga movement.

Har Ghar Tiranga: Union Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat urged citizens across the nation to actively and enthusiastically take part in the fourth edition of the Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan. Emphasizing the collective duty to uphold the honor and sanctity of the national flag, he underlined that proper display, respectful decoration, and strict adherence to the Flag Code of India form an essential part of this patriotic campaign.

Shekhawat on respect for the tricolor

At a press conference held in Delhi, Shekhawat was asked about incidents in which the dignity of the tricolor was compromised or the flag code was violated during or after the Har Ghar Tricolour campaign. To this, he said, "Some incidents happen... but we try our best. Earlier too, we have tried to educate people and give the message that the respect and sanctity of the tricolor should be maintained."

Part of the Flag Code Awareness Campaign

Union Culture Secretary Vivek Agarwal said that maintaining the dignity of the national flag is an integral part of this campaign. He said, "Apart from hoisting the flag, we also make people aware about following the National Flag Code of Conduct; as the Hon'ble Minister said, the respect and sanctity of the national flag should be maintained."

A campaign to inspire five lakh youth

More than 5 lakh youth have registered as volunteers for this year's campaign. These people will motivate people to hoist the tricolor in every home, office, market, shop, and other place and upload selfies with the tricolor.

Lights on 140 iconic monuments

Under this campaign, thematic lighting of monuments began on August 2. Projection mapping facility is available at 140 monuments and sites. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has shared images of historical heritage sites like Konark Sun Temple (Odisha), Chandragiri Fort (Andhra Pradesh), Gunavati Group Temple (Tripura), and Agra Fort decorated in the tricolor theme on X.

Operation Sindoor Special Program

Before the press conference, a video of the campaign was shown, which featured images of Indian Air Force aircraft, Colonel Sophia Qureshi, and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh. Both of them were prominent faces at the media briefing on Operation Sindoor. Vivek Agarwal said that students from schools are sending rakhis and letters to the soldiers in honor of Operation Sindoor.

Tricolor rally, music concert, memorial service

From August 12 to 14, a series of patriotic programs will be organized to celebrate the spirit of the tricolor in every household. On August 12, the tricolor bike rally will start from Bharat Mandapam and conclude at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium. On August 13, Delhi will host a vibrant tricolor concert featuring renowned singer Shaan. On August 14, Partition Remembrance Day will be observed with exhibitions and silent processions in Delhi and Kolkata, honoring the memories of those affected by Partition.
