National News: While thousands of people were rendered homeless due to the recent severe floods in Punjab, 43 families are struggling with the pain of losing their loved ones. A ray of relief has come for these families through Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MP and Chancellor of Lovely Professional University (LPU) Ashok Mittal. In a press conference held on Friday, he announced that one member from the family of each deceased will be given permanent employment.

"We will reach out to every family."

In the press conference, Mittal assured that no family will be denied assistance. He said, "We will reach out to all the affected houses ourselves. But if for some reason any family has not been able to contact us, then they should come forward so that immediate help can be provided."

Earlier also financial assistance was given

Ashok Mittal had earlier donated Rs 20 lakh to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. He believes that financial assistance and employment, both together, will be able to provide stability to the flood-affected families.

Praised the government, called rehabilitation a big challenge

Mittal praised the prompt action of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's government. He said that so far 196 relief camps have been set up and about 20 thousand people have been evacuated safely. However, he clearly said that the real work will start now—rebuilding houses, making fields fertile, providing health facilities, and bringing livelihoods back on track.

Appeal to society to come forward

The Rajya Sabha MP said that along with the government, every section of the society will have to come forward to deal with the loss on such a large scale. He appealed for generous cooperation and collective efforts. At the same time, Aam Aadmi Party's national convener Arvind Kejriwal praised Mittal's initiative and called it a lifeline for flood-affected families.
